Biden Has Stated That He Has No Remorse For His Handling Of Classified Materials

Vice President Joe Biden of the United States has stated that he has “no regrets” about not disclosing the discovery of classified documents in his office before the midterm elections. A special counsel has been assigned to the case by the US attorney general. Both his home and the office he used after leaving the vice presidency contained classified information.

If you look into it, I don’t think you’ll find much,” Mr. Biden said. He said this in response to a reporter who had asked him in November why he had kept the documents secret. On Thursday, as he toured a California beach town devastated by weeks of storms, he said, “I have no regrets.”

“Here, I’m doing what the attorneys have instructed me to do. We are in fact doing this.” Mr. Biden’s comments were the first time he’d discussed the secret documents in public. Republicans, in particular, have been critical of the president for his decision to withhold the discovery of the documents for so long. On 2 November, documents were discovered at the Penn Biden Center, a think tank Mr. Biden founded in Washington, DC, according to a statement released by Mr. Biden’s legal team in early January.

Mr. Biden’s lawyers have said that on December 20, they discovered another set of documents at his home in Wilmington, Delaware, and on January 12, they revealed that another document had been discovered at the president’s private home. Mr Biden reaffirmed that, upon discovery, his team had given the documents to the National Archives and the Justice Department, and that they had been working cooperatively with the agencies ever since. The papers were “inadvertently misplaced,” according to his attorney Richard Sauber.
